Introduction:

Yim Tin Tsai is a small offshore island in Sai Kung. The island was settled by members of the Hakka Chan clan during the 19th century. The village is different from other traditional Chinese village. There is no any temples but a western style Church. Baptism of the island's residents started in 1866, and by 1875, all villagers on the island were baptised. In 1879 a chapel was set up by Joseph Freinademetz.

The rehabilitation of the abandoned St. Joseph's Chapel received an Award of Merit as part of the 2005 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards. Cardinal Zen held a special mass in the chapel on 7 May 2006. Yim Tin Tsai also provided a well protected ecology for wetland species.

Sharp Island (Kiu Tsui Chau) is an island lies southeast of Sai Kung town centre and east of Kau Sai Chau which is about 1 km away. This south-north trending island is long and narrow, extending some 2,500 metres long and about 500 metres wide from east to west. Most outcropped strata of Sharp Island belong to Mesozoic Cretaceous volcanic Clearwater Bay Formation, a formation composed primarily of flow-banded porphyritic rhyolite lava, rhyolite breccia and eutaxitic vitric tuff. At the northern tip and west side of Sharp Island, you can find porphyritic fine to medium grained quartz monzonite. On the island monzonite would be in and interesting form of “Chinese pineapple Bun” shape because of weathering.
